Oh... Oh! [Elizabeth has had no reason to tuck that term away for future reference, but now she's remembering that it's... something to do with dehydration or something.]

The whole glass...? [Gosh, that's a very big glass.] ...would it really be so bad if I didn't?

Yes, it would. I may be a bad influence by taking you here in the first place, but I'm not getting you sick as a result.

[... oh god when did he turn into a babysitter? That's what he is right now, isn't it?

Well. At least this will be a learning experience?]

Nooo, Gai. [Elizabeth laughs and reaches across the table for his hand.] I asked to be taken here, didn't I? I would have come here sooner or later. Isn't it better that you're here with me now instead of me being by myself?

[Once again, Gai blinks, both surprised and marveling at how she can somehow always manage to catch him off guard like this. Blink and you'll miss it, though, because it's hardly a heartbeat before he smiles and gives her hand a squeeze.]

Something tells me you would be up dancing on those tables with the other patrons if I wasn't here.

[Elizabeth gets a little glint of mischief in her eye. Now you've done it, Gai.]

You want to see me dance on the table?

[... well. You only live once, right?]

Only if I get to do it too.

[THE BEST.]

[The last time she asked someone to dance with her, it was Booker, and he had been grumpy and refused. Excited doesn't begin to cover how Elizabeth feels when Gai wants to dance with her on a table in a bar.]

Why are we still sitting here?! [Elizabeth sets the glass of water down on the floor, hikes up her skirt and steps up onto her chair and up onto the table. And woo, that's a bit of a headrush--she wobbles a little.]

Come on! [She laughs and holds both of her hands out to give Gai some help up. Though maybe it isn't the best idea for Elizabeth to be stabilizing someone else...]

[Yeah, Gai is getting that feeling, which is why he'll step up onto the table before he takes her hand, resting his other hand on her waist to give her a little stability (don't think he didn't see that wobble there). At least one of them is sober, and he weighs enough that even her tripping and falling and pulling on him won't be enough to tug them both off balance.

He's done a lot of crazy things in his time. This, however, is new even for him.]

Another rock-and-roll number?

[Elizabeth leans right into Gai's hold, noticing how warm he is and how nice it is to be held. She's quiet for a moment, even though Gai just asked her a question, sighing deeply after she savors the little piece of time.]

Do we have enough room? [She looks around the not tiny, but not massive table.] I don't want my heel sliding off!

We do if we turn in a circle.

[Which... is probably a BAD idea given that she's been drinking, but given how talkative she is, Gai is counting on her to say something if she starts feeling dizzy or worse.

When she leans, he just stands there quietly for a moment to allow it. It DOES feel nice, nicer than he'd been expecting, even though this really isn't the place for this kind of thing. If anyone dares to stare at them, he'll just shoot them a deadly glance.]

[Yes, definitely not the place for just standing on a table and being quiet. Elizabeth nods, grinning away at the suggestion.]

Fortunately, I am great at turning in circles. [And she lets go of Gai and demonstrates a little twirl. Which given her level of intoxication, is actually fairly graceful.]

[And Gai is most definitely keeping a tight hold on her hand while she does so, just in case. Even he has his limit as to how many things he's willing to be responsible for this evening.]

Then shall we?

[He's also going to be the one leading this dance, for obvious reasons.]

Yes! [Elizabeth bounces on her toes a little, just waiting for Gai to start moving too. Maybe a table doesn't really afford the sort of raucous dancing the singing calls for, but she wants to see how Gai dances with her on a table.]

[Much more slowly and carefully than he did on the beach, that much is for certain, though it's still about as energetic as the small space on the table will allow. And yes, there's quite a great deal of spinning and whirling about; after a moment of this, he's feeling a bit mischievous and decides to dip her back. Not too far, since he doesn't want to make her feel like she's falling, but enough to make her giddy-- at least, he hopes.]

[Elizabeth knew when she and Booker were at Battleship Bay that she loved dancing. But maybe she didn't know then that she loved it a lot. She's very close to Gai, true, and she's more or less being pulled around by him because she's too tipsy to initiate anything. But it's lively and fun, and Gai is trying a few new things apparently. Elizabeth gasps when she feels Gai leaning her back. For a moment she's afraid of falling, but she can feel Gai has a hold on her. She strikes a somewhat classical, somewhat dramatic pose as she's dipped backwards.]

[This is almost more fun than the first time they danced, in Gai's honest opinion. Maybe it's because he's had a couple of beers, or maybe it's because the atmosphere is contagious-- he isn't sure. But from the look on his face, it's clear that he's enjoying this every bit as much as she is, and that's a rarity. He hardly ever got a real chance to cut loose and just enjoy himself back in his own world; now that he's getting that chance here, he might be going just the tiniest bit overboard.

At least Elizabeth doesn't seem to be minding this at all.]

[She doesn't even notice. Somewhat because of the alcohol, but mostly because she hasn't seen Gai in his usual element. Maybe if Gai had seen what Elizabeth had come out of just minutes before she arrived in Luceti, he might be surprised Elizabeth could enjoy herself so thoroughly as well.]

[As Gai goes overboard, Elizabeth does too. She's dancing closer, putting her hands and arms on Gai more than she has before. She's laughing as she struggles to keep up with Gai, but even if she's stumbling a little it's still an amazing moment.]

[This whole thing is exhilarating, far more than logic would dictate-- they're dancing on a table in the middle of a bar, they're both slightly inebriated (well, more than "slightly" in Elizabeth's case, and everyone else in the bar is sloshed out of their minds, which may or may not be Gai's fault. Yet somehow he feels more alive than he has in months, and as Elizabeth moves closer to him, he allows his hand to move from her waist to the small of her back, holding her gently but firmly against him.

If she asks, he'll say it's because he doesn't want her to lose her balance and fall.]

[Elizabeth stumbles into Gai as he pulls her closer. Close enough until their bodies are flush. Now that was exhilarating. Contact, more contact than she'd ever felt before.]

[She looks up at Gai, and if she was more sober she would ask why she suddenly felt warm. But because she isn't sober, Elizabeth leans all of her weight into Gai, wraps her arms around his neck, and kisses him hard. It seems like an amazing idea right now, at least...]

[Even if they're on a table.]

[In the middle of a bar.]

["Shame" has never been a word in Gai's vocabulary. Those with that quality don't tend to last long as resistance fighters, especially not resistance fighters who disguise themselves as lawyers in order to waltz right into enemy headquarters and liberate their friends. Kissing in public? No big deal to him.

In fact, this time he feels a distinct sense of pride as he kisses right back with equal ardor. Elizabeth is wonderful, clever, and amazing, and she likes him. Let everyone else in the bar see. He doesn't mind one bit.]

[Neither does Elizabeth. And the fact that she's had a few drinks means that she's far less concerned with kissing well and is simply going for it. One kiss, then another one, a quick one, then she's turning her head to the side--]

[And someone whistles at them. And she startles and realizes people are watching.]

[Honestly, as she's still learning the proper technique to begin with, these kisses aren't all that much worse than her usual ones, but Gai will give her credit for enthusiasm. That's the more important part, anyway. And since she seems determined to kiss him breathless right about now, perhaps he can work in a quick lesson or two...

... until she stops, apparently realizing that the entire bar is watching them. His only response to the staring is to level a gaze that says "One word and I will kill every single person in this room" at the other patrons, almost daring them to do so.

But that did kind of kill the moment...]

[Elizabeth looks at Gai's face, back at the patrons who all seemed to have stopped their singing and whistling, and back to Gai.]

[Frowning slightly, she tugs twice on a lock of Gai's hair at the back of his head.] So serious.

[And she's grinning again and hanging off his neck to kiss him on the cheek.]

[And just like that, he's smiling again as she tugs on his hair. He's pretty sure he got his point across to the rest of the bar, so there's no need to keep making that face.]

That's a funny thing to accuse someone who is dancing on a table of being.

It's a funny face for someone dancing on a table to make! [She laughs as everyone in the bar goes back to their, admittedly more quiet, revelry. Elizabeth sways a little, almost as though there was still something to dance to, and considers Gai for a moment.]
