[Elizabeth looks at Gai's face, back at the patrons who all seemed to have stopped their singing and whistling, and back to Gai.]

[Frowning slightly, she tugs twice on a lock of Gai's hair at the back of his head.] So serious.

[And she's grinning again and hanging off his neck to kiss him on the cheek.]

[And just like that, he's smiling again as she tugs on his hair. He's pretty sure he got his point across to the rest of the bar, so there's no need to keep making that face.]

That's a funny thing to accuse someone who is dancing on a table of being.

It's a funny face for someone dancing on a table to make! [She laughs as everyone in the bar goes back to their, admittedly more quiet, revelry. Elizabeth sways a little, almost as though there was still something to dance to, and considers Gai for a moment.]

I think I knocked my teeth into you once, I'm sorry.

[Noticing that swaying, Gai keeps a firm hold on her waist. So far, so good; he'd rather their evening not be ended by her falling off the table.]

I didn't even notice. I had more important things to be paying attention to at the moment.

Like keeping me on the table? [Elizabeth grins and keeps on swaying, listening to some piece of music that's just in her head.]

How do people learn to kiss? Just by practicing?

And like kissing.

[She can sway all she wants, as long as it doesn't mean she ends up drifting towards the edge of the table. He's just gonna keep his hand on her to make sure that doesn't happen.

When she asks her question, he nods in response.]

Yeah. Practicing, experimenting, finding out what you and your partner like best. Different people like different things. The only way to find out what you like is to try it for yourself.

Mm... just like everything else. [Elizabeth tilts her head, smiling lazily up at Gai.] What do you like?

A lot of things that aren't appropriate for public places.

[And most especially not a table in the middle of a bar. Not that the locale itself is that bad, it's more the "being surrounded by people" part.]

Then let's go somewhere else. [Elizabeth raises an eyebrow. A very suggestive eyebrow. If Gai has a preference, wants Elizabeth to do something when they were kissing, she wants to try it.]

[That's... a very tempting invitation indeed, especially with that eyebrow. And okay, so Elizabeth said she didn't want to mimic the stuff from the books yet, but that doesn't mean they can't practice the basics a little, right? He's buzzed enough that this sounds like a good idea, but sober enough to be able to stop things before they go too far... at least he thinks. He's pretty sure.]

Sure. Your place or mine?

You've already seen mine. If I want to come visit I'll have to know where to go, right? [Pure logic.]

I can't argue that. It isn't far, either. I'm just over in Community Building 4.

[He wanted somewhere that was close to the center of town, so it was the logical choice.]

Is that close? Great, let's go! [Clearly she's gotten her fill of the bar. She's seen drunken singing and danced on a table, truth be told she feels a little tired. Maybe just a little quiet time with Gai, some talk about kissing while she's still feeling loose and brave.]

[Elizabeth looks around, searching for a chair so she can climb down. Once Gai lets her go at least.]

[Who needs chairs? She doesn't weigh that much (at least to Gai), so it's easy enough for him to just lift her up and then set her back down on the ground before jumping off himself.

At least going back to his place means removing her from the temptation of more alcohol, and perhaps he can get some food and some more water into her too... something tells him that she would be the type to complain very loudly at him if she ends up with a hangover.]

[Elizabeth makes a little surprised noise when Gai lifts her down, but grins when she touches down. The second Gai is next to her, Elizabeth has his hand and is pulling him towards the exit.]

[He is not going to resist that tugging one bit, though he does hope she remembers where she's headed-- if not, he'll just take charge and lead the way, but for now, he's fine with this arrangement. It's... exciting, in a strange way.]

[Yes, once they're outside, Elizabeth doesn't know where she's going and she stops to wait for Gai to take the lead.]

[Though first, she takes a deep breath and looks up at the sky.]

Before I came here, I'd never seen so many stars. I only realized what I was reading about after seeing a real night sky.

You couldn't see them from where you were kept?

[Not that he's surprised-- he couldn't see the sky, or even the outdoors at all, from his own cell when he'd been a prisoner. He suspects it was probably the same for her.]

I could see some of the sky. But there was so much light from inside, it kind of blocked it all out. Some of the brighter ones, sure.

[She swings Gai's hand back and forth a little and looks up again.] But not like this.

[Gai looks at her for a moment before looking up to the sky himself.]

Then we can make that our second date. We'll find a nice, quiet spot and just look at the stars. Maybe even bring a meal along with us.

[It feels weird to be planning an actual date like this; back in his world, the most he would ever do was dinner, and that was only as a prerequisite for getting what he wanted.]

You wouldn't be bored? [Elizabeth looks pleasantly surprised. Back during the last experiment, she started drafting her own charts just for fun and hadn't worked on them since. But she still loved the sky, and she loved any reason to lay back and watch the sky.]

Not with you.

[And it's the truth. Being around Elizabeth is never boring, as he's already come to realize. They just danced on a table in the bar. If that was their first date, what will the second one be like?]

[Even mostly intoxicated, Elizabeth can grasp the gravity of Gai's statement. She'd never realized how... amazing it felt to have someone want to spend time with you. Somehow, she gets the feeling that she could ask Gai if he wanted to spend an afternoon reading together and he would... probably agree?]

[She smiles, shy all of a sudden, and swings their hands a little again.] I would love to do that next time.

Then it's a date.

[Elizabeth isn't the only one feeling a little shy about this, though Gai would never show it. All of his experiences with "dating" (if it could even be called that) were as a means to an end. The idea of having someone that you want to spend time with, even if that time is spent doing something as quiet and uneventful as stargazing, is something that's totally new to him. All he knows is that right now he'd probably agree to do just about anything if she wanted to.

After a quick squeeze of her hand, he takes a step forward to lead the way back.]

Now, I believe we were in the middle of something...

Oh! Right, yes. [She falls into step right alongside Gai. Even though she was just dancing on a table with Gai, she's feeling a little flustered and excited by all of this. This date isn't even over yet and they have plans for another one? That was the best outcome, wasn't it?]

...I left my water on the table. [Whoops.]
