This is the first birthday I've had outside of my tower at home. I know Eugene had a rave, but what has everyone else done for their birthdays while they've been here? Or, I suppose if you haven't had a birthday here, what did you typically do?

[Elizabeth doesn't take the day off, even though it's her birthday. She's happy being out and about, enjoying the day and being in the village. She goes to the grocery store, pokes around the item shop and clothing shop a little, picks up some of Booker's preferred whiskey at Good Spirits... she's even running errands she really doesn't have to run. And while she loves the library, today she chooses to read for a bit outdoors--because otherwise she'd spend all day inside. It's a good day to be alive, and that's how Elizabeth is viewing it, and she's going to spend it out in the world. For the first time.]

Well hello there, birthday girl.

[Somewhere in the middle of Elizabeth's reading time there will be one (1) smiling Englishman leaning into her sunlight, followed mere moments later by an friendly white shiba inu snuffling at her hair in a none-too-stealthy ploy for attention. Since the transmission went out Jack's been at the battle dome, making sure an idea he's been toying with actually works, and he's finished with enough time to walk the dog before calling Elizabeth. Finding her outside and reading, though, works even better.]

Whirlwind day full of excitement, I see.

Jack! [Elizabeth really hadn't though she could glow any more, but seeing a familiar face is wonderful. She grins up at Jack, then makes a startled but delighted sound when the fluffiest dog Elizabeth has ever seen comes calling. After a moment of uncertainty, she reaches out and pets Jack's dog.]

Hello to you too. Out for a walk?

[He's in the item store at the moment, currently his face is buried in "Treasure Island. He only came in to get some stuff for Shu that he figured the guy would need. That's when he totally misses sight of Elizabeth and walks right into her. Stumbling back a bit he drops his own stuff.]

Oh! I'm so sorry. [Elizabeth laughs a little and drops down to help him collect everything. She takes a brief glance up at who she knocked into and blinks.]

Oh... ah, I'm sorry. [She's sure that he heard her the first time, but things have gotten a little awkward now, haven't they? This is obviously the one she'd argued with over the mission, and the the boy she met during the experiment.] How have you been?

Nothing special, really. I'd just spend some time with Haruka. We were fine with things being simple. [He sounds like such a killjoy. Birthday parties weren't that big of a deal for him.]

Just to clarify. But normally there's cake and candles, and friends giving thoughtful gifts.

[At some point when Elizabeth returns to the house, she might - if she returns to her room - find a box of ribbons in varying colors and textures on her bed. A last minute gift if ever there was one, and a note in Booker's scratchy, unpracticed handwriting of: Happy birthday.

The only reason she even has the note and box is because she's made a post in the journal. Booker has been stewing in his own misery for a few days now, because this day in particular has always been rather awful. Some of it spent mourning her mother and some spent mourning Elizabeth and what he'd done to her. Either way, it was a day that never resulted in good choices. The brand on the back of his hand was proof enough of that.

The present might have been given out of guilt, but Booker would rather be reminded of his mistakes and have her here than anything else.

He'll be at the bar of Good Spirits, soaking in the very same whiskey she's picked out, should Elizabeth want to see him.]

[When Elizabeth discovers the box, she grins from ear to ear and peruses the note and contents at length. She's glad that she didn't end up cutting her hair now, and she probably won't cut it again for the foreseeable future.]

[She carries the box around the house, looking for Booker so she can thank him. But of course, he's not there. Who leaves a gift and then runs off? Booker DeWitt, apparently. But Elizabeth knows him well enough to guess where he's gone. But why today of all days? She would have liked him to be there when she opened the gift, at least.]

[When she does find Booker, she's certainly a sight to behold. Elizabeth has tied her hair into two pigtails, each one tied with three different ribbons. That makes six ribbons in Elizabeth's hair, and she's sitting down across from Booker with a very pleased grin.]

Happy birthday! [Even though he doesn't know her gonna wish her a happy birthday anyways.

And Seto doesn't even know what a rave is but--] I think people normally spend their birthdays at parties with their friends eating cake and opening presents! That's how I spent my first birthday [Ever.] a few months ago! Though there was a festival going on that day too so we spent a lot of time outside at the festival making wishes and stargazing too.

[Gai may or may not have been in cahoots with Jack regarding this whole birthday thing. As it turns out, the two of them had had the same idea regarding the use of the Battle Dome simulators, so it was easy enough for them to combine their plan into a single day-long celebration just for Elizabeth.

Which is why, when evening rolls in, he'll come to meet them there, a bag in one hand and a bouquet of roses in the other. And yes, he's dressed in that suit she likes, too. This is her day, and he wants to make sure that it's one she'll remember.]

[Elizabeth and Jack are walking down the Champs Elysees, Elizabeth pointing out anything and everything that she thinks is delightful or impressive. She spots familiar blonde hair through the artificial crowd, then it parts almost in a cinematic way to frame Gai and his roses.]

[She almost can't believe he's there, but Jack is full of surprises today.] You thought of just about everything, didn't you? [After squeezing Jack's hand briefly, she hurries to meet Gai.]
