[It's a good point, Elizabeth can't deny that. But fortunately this has a fairly straightforward answer.]
We didn't kill Ploiatos because I don't know that we would be able to. Any physical attack that a crewmember mounted while he was loose on the ship ultimately had no success. Even though we have him cornered in one of the rooms now, after what happened to Captain Tipota I don't know that anyone should attempt to kill him. Locking someone in there with him could be tantamount to manslaughter.
But if you wish me to pass the suggestion along to the captains, I will.
Demonstrated system threat. High level capabilities, full extent unknown. Quarantine: not valid for long-term solution.
Escape possible. Infection possible. Quarantine breached by accident already.
[It could have gotten out. It will get out next time the power fails, or some new attack weakens that door, or some new powered import decides to sabotage them. The monster hadn't even been trying. Rinzler's been driven to frustration by the policies before, but this is stupid enough to crash from. You don't glitch around with virals.]
Local user powers varied. Can breach barrier with weapons or attacks. Alter environmentals. "Locking someone in" not required.
If required, still a better plan.
[Insert a bomb into the room. Overheat it until it dies of its own glitches. Let the users with strange powers dismember it from outside the door. Or, yes, throw Security inside and let them try. He'd volunteer, even if he doesn't have that assignment here. Anything is better than leaving a high level threat one thick door away from where everyone sleeps. Especially if it's strong enough that they aren't sure how to kill it.]
[Yes, the door was already opened somehow despite the literal neon sign urging people not to do what Sans and Papyrus did. The fact that she has to answer for someone ignoring a clear warning is frustrating, but this is part of the job she's taken on.]
[Yes, quarantine is probably not going to work as a long-term solution, she agrees with him there, but would the captains actually sanction the systematic killing of the creature? Even if it hunted for enjoyment, even if it could be killed...]
I understand your concern, however you have to understand the position I and the rest of the crew are in. Two crew members did blatantly ignore a clear warning and created a potential extreme risk for the rest of the crew, however this only occurred because they were not properly informed of what was behind the door.
What you are advocating for and the reasons behind it are all logical, however you are still advocating for using crew members to murder a caged being. Even if volunteers came forward, there is potential for putting the rest of the crew at risk should he become desperate and escape during one of the attempts to kill him. The fact that his full extent is unknown is one of the reasons we can't come at this half-cocked. There is always potential to make a situation worse while trying to fix it.
I will bring your concerns and your sense of urgency to the captains, until then I must encourage you not to take any independent action even if you think it would benefit the crew. The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.
I will contact you with any update regarding your concern.
