I think that was, maybe, the most haphazard experiment I've been here during. I can't even make a speculation at what the purpose of it was aside from confuse us all.

But I suppose I did meet quite a few people, so perhaps inadvertently its purpose was to remind me of that time when I thought life was much simpler. [That time when she thought no one would ever hurt her, and everything in life was new and beautiful.] And I suppose it gave me my hair back. It's as long as it was before I cut it, now. It's nice, I suppose, but does anyone here give haircuts...?

When even was the last experiment... I want to say April, probably? That was a lame one too. [He was "evil" during it... so yeah]

It wasn't so terrible. Did you figure out how to fly? That made it very interesting for me at least. Better than this one.

Hm? I think you have it backwards, Elizabeth-san. That one was actually in May, and I'm not sure you can fairly call it an "experiment." The last true one was a little before that.

Oh! Oh, then it must have been right before I arrived. Why couldn't you call all of that strangeness with the larger wings an experiment, though?

Of course not. To be an "experiment" there has to be "intent" - and whatever other things the Malnosso might have done, that one wasn't intended by them.

It wasn't? Oh... [Elizabeth frowns at her journal and tries to think back to that particular experi-- instance. She had been so new though, barely in Luceti a month, maybe she had missed that little fact.]

So, really, before a few days ago there hadn't been an intentional experiment since April. And yet it feels like so much has happened that we had no control over.

It wasn't - from what I've heard, we actually accidentally caused the thing with the wings. But. Yeah, that lack of control is always there. Or at least, as long as I've been here.

We did? ...well isn't that ironic. [Elizabeth actually sounds a little bemused by that. This place was full of surprises, clearly.]

How long have you been here, Masaomi? I don't think I managed to ask you during speed dating.

Three years and... and month, now. Not the longest, but I can hardly call it the "shortest" these days.

Three years... have you ever run out of things that interest you? [Because that's the one thing Elizabeth is probably the most nervous about. Sheer boredom.]

A...ah. Yes and no. I'd say that "fate" hasn't bee especially kind to me, so interest might be pushing things, but I haven't gotten bored in a long while, at least. There's always things to do, things to learn, and girls to charm, as far as I'm concerned.

Ah... but it's been a hard three years? [Elizabeth sounds as though she's painfully sympathetic.]

When you say it like that, I just sound victimized.

[His tone is airy, he's still smiling. That's just how he rolls]

Ah, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you were. I just know that sometimes even when the best attempts are made to have hope and find something to be happy about, too many things happen to dim those efforts.

[ Hah ] That's true, and it's also true that despair is contagious. If only one individual gives in to that despair, everyone around them is just that much closer to falling "ill" with it. In that respect, isn't it just better to smile?

Maybe... Though it has to be hard doing nothing but smiling no matter what. Life always has its ups and downs, even outside of here.

Eeeeh, do you have some sagely advice to lay on me? I'm always down for more wisdom of the ages. [He snaps his fingers and] Fringe benefit!

[Elizabeth laughs quietly.] No advice, I'm afraid. Just experience...
