DOUZE + [Action/Video]
[Action] - Locked to Infinite + Gai
[The morning of April 9th brings excitement to House 36. Elizabeth wakes up, feeling maybe a little heavier than she usually does, but after a quick mental assessment brushes it off as nothing more than a desire to stay warm in bed, next to Gai.]
[She pulls brown hair out of her face to check the clock. Well, 8:36AM, it's probably time to get up and make some coffee for the house. A good minute is spent debating rolling over onto Gai and going back to sleep (interspersed with wondering how she got so twisted up in her nightgown--it feels like it's choking her now).]
[In the end, chores win out, but Elizabeth isn't going to completely deny herself. She stretches up and nuzzles up under Gai's jaw and kisses him there.]
Good morn--
[That was significantly lower than her voice usually is.]
[After that bit of fun, Elizabeth comes stumbling awkwardly out of her room--there's a man in Elizabeth's nightgown standing in the hallway and looking horrified.]
Roberrrrt!!
[Booker must never know. Which is clearly why she's screaming for Robert in the middle of the hall. But what could she do? The last thing she needed was Rosalind's thoughts on how to be a man, Booker would probably take one look at her and start drinking.]
[The feed starts up, and at least Elizabeth is no longer in a nightgown, but she looks just as panicked.]
No, this isn't a mistake in your journal, it's really me-- [She brings her thimble-covered pinky into the frame and rotates it.] --Elizabeth! But I'm-- I'm a man now!
[Blunt and to the point. She's too freaked out to dance around the problem and break it delicately though.] What do I do?! I don't know how to be a man, I've spent twenty one years being a woman!
[And the best way to learn how to function as a male is to ask the network. Good job, Elizabeth.]

[Iofast holds up his hands, grin settling down accordingly with the threat, still bemused but doing his best to calm his new acquaintance.]
Please. I do not laugh out of cruelty - just as I know the same holds for your words. [He had thought it a teasing euphemism, but clearly it was meant in absolute earnestness, and he softens more as he explains.] I suppose that is part of what made me laugh. I . . . I have never head that word spoken of either of us so warmly. It was charming.

[Juti is not far, having heard half the conversation and the ire that came from this one who was once a woman and is now a man.]
Apologies, my friend. It is truly a skill acquired over hundreds of years to excuse Iofast's behavior. Though he is slight enough to on occasion be mistaken as my bride.
[Unrepentant, he grins at Iofast, with a look of expectation. Of course Juti would not be mistaken for a wife, Jack was the fairer of the two.]
But if you aren't... if you aren't married, are you both just good friends now? I'm very confused, maybe waking up like this has scrambled more than I thought.
[Not likely, but a way to get them to explain.]
There is much about this young woman that is puzzling. But it is touching, in a way, that she worries for the both of them, even if a stranger implying certainty of such intimate knowledge sends trepidation spidering coldly through his veins.]
We are friends, of course. The is nothing, no one, dearer to me in this or any other world. But . . . this business of men marrying, I know not what you mean by it.
[He glances up at Juti, and there's a moment's flicker of curiosity, of worry, a silent question traded between two who have spent lifetimes together. They do not speak of or act on this outside of closed doors, let alone in strange realms and to strange people. But this girl seems to know, to expect it.]

We are brothers. Not of blood, but of bond and strife, experience, and...
[he shrugged, smiling just a little at Iofast, a tilt of his lips upward. Something bade him not to worry about confessing such things. For if it was understood theirs be a relationship of marriage, perhaps such things were more readily permitted in these realms. They could always claim they spoke in this way for ease of understanding, if questioned.]
Iofast is my constant. The realm may change and yet my bond with him shall never.
no subject
[At the very least, though, apparently they're both devoted to one another. In the end, that was probably what mattered, not the words or the status or anything like that. In a way it was kind of romantic in the sense that even the shift couldn't dampen their bond.]
[
Even if they were 'brothers' who totally taught her how to blow her boyfriend.]Well, it's... nice to see you both share such a deep bond. I bet you both do everything together, even-- no need to bring anybody else in on the fun, right? [This is Elizabeth, hoping there won't be fireworks and accusations when all of this is over.]
