Ye-Yeah, I tend to have rather complicated dreams. I can't explain it, especially the ones that make no sense. But the last time I ended up in a desert was on a remote planet completely made up of sand. So it's either my trip is coming back to haunt me or it's as you said something symbolic. Maybe I'll look up one of those books you mentioned.
