I've-- Oh, wait. Hello Luceti! [Right, she can't just start talking like you do with Voxophones.]

I've recently, this past New Feather cycle, brought two more people into my apartment. Up until now I haven't been... cooking, exactly. [She's been eating whatever she can get ready-made, namely.] Does anyone have any... somewhat simple cooking recipes for two adult men and one slightly smaller girl?

And can someone explain to me how to work the oven...?

[Action]

[Later in the day, Elizabeth ventures out to the grocery store to pick up things for her first cooking adventure! Though it's a trial, even at the store. Elizabeth keeps looking between different things and consulting her journal and looking back at the shelves... and frowning. Because this is all extremely complicated. No wonder this was done for her every day... This would probably take her weeks to figure out.]

[The journal is, to some extent, background noise. He keeps it open and listens to whatever he can while he works in the corner of the apartment that he's claimed for a desk. Notes -- both about Luceti and what he can remember of the Lutece Field and all of that work -- are spread out in a very ordered chaos.

So when he hears Elizabeth, he stops in his work. Not from the journal itself, no, but from inside the apartment.

He waits until she's finished before he speaks. ...Trying to ignore that she's reminded him he hasn't eaten today, which provokes the hunger that had come and gone some hours earlier.]

You don't need to worry about making food for us, Elizabeth. Couldn't you just hire a domestic? I'm sure the three of us could afford it.

[...After all, the Luteces were wealthy enough in Columbia to afford a pair of maids. One for the kitchen and one for basic cleaning.]

[He doesn't know how to feel about being here, much less having chicken wings. What he does know is that he will do almost anything to avoid spending too much time in the same room as Robert Lutece.

Call it paranoia, call it guilt, a ridiculous grudge - what have you. He didn't like the man, end of story. He was still anticipating the physicist and his counterpart to just...pop out of nowhere and be horribly cryptic and sarcastic. He didn't like that feeling.

Besides, he'd much rather spend time with someone he can be comfortable with. Which at this point, is Elizabeth exclusively.]

So...what're we here for again?

[This is him trying to be helpful.]

Do sandwiches and salads count as recipes? I know how one goes about making cheesestakes thanks to a friend of mine and surely a Caesar salad will be sufficient for a while.

{ Like Elizabeth, Addie here didn't know how to work an oven so she'll stay quiet about that one. Didn't really need to know.

If she was hungry back at the building and wanted something cooked for a quick meal, there was always someone there to cook for her because they liked her/took enough pity on her. Or she always went out to eat.
} I think if I recall correctly, perhaps I know also a recipe for a type of soup.

Well, that depends. What sorts of things do you all like to eat?

[ Because she has recipes, but. ]

And I'd be happy to show you how to work the oven. I'm not sure what sort of model you're working with, but the apartments have those big communal kitchens, don't they?

I can provide some recipes at least. Any idea of what they like to eat? And you as well.

Well, I don't really have any recipes, but working the oven is easy! You just need to turn the little dial all the way up, so it cooks the food quickly.

[ Don't listen to her, she's a terrible cook. ]

[ Cooking you say? Helios has a knack for that most definitely. ] I have a few beginners cook books in the library if you'd like to stop by sometime and pick them up. I can put them off to the side for you if want.

[Did someone say cooking.]

I can help out, too! I wouldn't say I'm an expert in cooking, but I've always found it fun and my mom's taught me a lot... You can make a lot of simple meals for three with rice, even just by putting cooked vegetables over it or a raw egg. When you mix it up it tastes really delicious...

[You can literally do anything with rice Diamond loves it.]

[It's much easier to just ignore Lutece and keep on keeping on.]

Alright.

[Besides it'll be good for Booker to just forget the scientist is even here while he gets his bearings. Eventually he'll stop tagging along with Elizabeth everywhere. Eventually. Right now though it doesn't seem like she minds it too much. Which is good, because as far as touchstones go right now: Elizabeth is it.]

Well, I ain't too picky about what I eat. [No shit.] So unless your other...house-guest has any preferences I guess you can just do what you want.

It still baffles me as to how a society can function without any form of currency. Especially one that is not primitive.

[Not a particularly bad thing, but he ceases to see how it does not simply implode upon itself.

Or, at least, hasn't already.]

Not at all! You pretty much put rice in a pot filled three-fourths with water and don't ever stir it. Unless you want a sticky rice, like for rice pudding or risotto, but for a dish like the one I described the egg'll act as the binder after it's done~. It'll take around around fifteen to twenty minutes to cook.

[Do you need to take notes, Elizabeth? Because he can give a step by step.]

Oh no! There's plenty of copies and different books in the library so you can take them out if you'd like. Should I set aside a few for you then?

I think it's for people who want to make their dishes look in a particular way.

All right; so go easy on the spices. This will seem a little weird to ask, but are you from Earth? And is there anything you don't like?

[This will definitely dictate what he cooks.]

{ One has to bless the human mind. Always looking for the easier way to do things when it comes to everyday tasks. }

I'll write it down now for you. None of them are difficult to make long, I assure you.

{ Recalling much as she could, Addie scribbled down the list of ingredients needed and the instructions on how to cook the recipes she had mentioned. It takes a few minutes but not too terribly long in her opinion. It only took her long as she wanted to be sure about the amount of spices one should add to the soup recipe.

She continues to write instead of resuming the voice option when she did finish writing that all down, deciding on a whim she does need to practice on her non-cursive handwriting these days.
}

I hope this will be of help! And I do applaud you for your efforts in wanting to learn for yourself and friends. They're quiet lucky a thoughtful woman as you is around for them.
